Each year, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America presents the Team Academic Achievement Award for exemplary performance by student athletes in the classroom. This year, only 388 teams nationwide earned the award. In order to qualify, the team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the entire school year. The team G-P-A is determined by adding every player's G-P-A then dividing by the number of players. The 2012-13 girls’ soccer team at Kellam High School had an average G-P-A of 3.56.
