VBCPS hosts Navigating the Journey,
a PreK-12 resource fair, Oct. 12

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) is hosting a new citywide event, Navigating the Journey, to provide more information about the programs, pathways and services available to students throughout their educational experience - prekindergarten through graduation.

The event is for all VBCPS students and families, and will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Convention Center located at 1000 19th Street. This year’s fair will feature more than 50 exhibits and information tables for attendees to visit.

“From our prekindergarten classes to our high school academies and specialty centers, we are very fortunate and proud to be able to provide children and families living in Virginia Beach with high quality academic programs, a variety of supportive services and multiple pathways to ensure our students achieve success throughout their educational career and beyond,” said Dr. Aaron Spence, VBCPS superintendent. “We hope all of our families will take advantage of this opportunity to see all our division offers at each school level.”

Navigating the Journey is an expansion of the school division’s annual Academy and Advanced Academic Programs Night, which showcased the options available to VBCPS high school students. Each of the academies and advanced academic programs will still be represented at this year’s fair, and each will have its own 25-minute breakout session for interested families. Throughout the evening, VBCPS staff will also be hosting breakout sessions for attendees on topics ranging from the transition to middle school to military connections in the division.

The Navigating the Journey event flyer posted on vbschools.com includes a detailed list of exhibits and a schedule of information sessions.

Parent/guardians and students who are unable to attend Navigating the Journey can find more information about the event’s featured programs, services and resources on vbschools.com. Additionally, each of the high school academies, advanced academic programs and specialty centers will host separate information nights at their respective buildings. Visit vbschools.com to view scheduled information night dates and times or contact the school.
