Diamond Springs Elementary welcomes fathers to school

During Father-Daughter Day, fathers were invited to visit their daughters at Diamond Springs Elementary School. They spent time together in their classrooms, and then first-grade teacher Sharon McPherson and kindergarten assistant Danielle Green guided them through the steps of various dances, including the waltz. Lynnhaven Elementary School hosts Parent Tea and Academic Block Party

On May 7, Lynnhaven Elementary School kindergarteners hosted their parents at a parent tea. To prepare for the tea, kindergarten teachers taught an integrated unit in which students read stories about families, reviewed traits of good citizens, learned about plant and animal babies, and used measurement skills to bake cookies for the tea. Students also prepared special gifts for the event, including writing stories about their parents, making corsages, and creating decorations. On the day of the tea, students dressed in their Sunday best and were delighted to present their parents with their special gifts.

As a kickoff to SOL testing, Lynnhaven Elementary School invited students and their families to an academic block party on the grounds of the school. Hermitage Elementary School kindergarteners celebrate moms
Several kindergarten classes celebrated with their mothers on Thursday, May 6 by hosting a Mother's Day tea party. In preparation for the celebration, kindergarteners made "I Love My Mom" booklets. They also created small foldable boxes and filled them with candy. To top it all off, students decorated bonnets for the mothers to wear. Photo: Katie G. and her mom Melissa G. enjoy tea.

Parkway Elementary School hosts Family Math and Science Night
To encourage all family members to be involved in math and science activities, Parkway Elementary School held its annual Family Math and Science Night. Each grade level offered fun games to play, and parents and students took a look at their science projects. Pembroke Elementary School hosts family events

Pembroke Meadows Elementary School hosts family event at Food Lion
Pembroke Meadows Elementary School was the first school to participate in Food Lion’s Math Night at the store’s Haygood location. Students and parents worked together on the task of completing a math worksheet that involved finding items in the store and performing related calculations.
